ECZEMA – Learn the underlying causes
Eczema is a term used for a medical condition group that causes the skin to become inflamed or irritated. The most common type is known as Atopic Dermatitis or Atopic Eczema. Atopic refers to a group of diseases with an often inherited tendency to develop other allergic conditions, known as asthma or hay fever. It is an intensely itchy, inflammatory skin disease characterized by scales, crusts, scabs, redness, blisters, or pustules; alone or in combination. It is commonly found on the face, wrists, and inside of the elbows and knees, hands, or feet. It is almost always itchy. Sometimes the itching will start before the rash appears but the rash will appear soon thereafter. In infants, the itchy rash can produce an oozing, crusting condition that happens mainly on the face and scalp, but patches can appear anywhere. The condition is not contagious and cannot be passed from one person to another.
